The Anniversary (non) Party, new floor and painting progress
Howdy blerg. Yesterday was our 7 year anniversary. I had a fantastic and creative idea in store, but due to some unfortunate circumstances we just ended up going out to an Italian dinner at the Everett Marina instead. I asked a young lady eating watermelon at the pier to take our photo and she happily obliged. Nerds in love!
I knew the lighting would be terrible for this picture but what to do? Re-pose at another table? Pffft. Here’s Joshy and his “Italian Job” drink, something or another with vodka. I’m always whining that he drinks whiskey when we go out and it smells awful (when we make out), so just for me, he ordered vodka.
I had the most absurd everything-that-can-go-wrong-will day yesterday and couldn’t deal with my contacts, even for our special dinner, but I did take my glasses off for this photo. Trying to be cute (and not feeling it).
This was an Italian restaurant a co-worker of mine had recommended, and it was good, but nothing spectacular. I ordered Gorgonzola tortellini and they were out and served me ravioli instead, and Josh’s spaghetti and meatballs were uninspired, but the portion of Alaskan crab we split for an appetizer was worth it. YUM, CRAB.
Holding hands and strolling around the pier, gazing at the sunset was nice. Stopping at 31 Flavors on the way home for a scoop of Chocolate Mousse Royale was, too. Mmmmm.
There’s no reason why we can’t still celebrate our 7 year anniversary in the fun way I imagined, just not…yet. Not until the living room is finished.
Speaking of which, here it is in progress. Josh’s 23-year-old buddy came over on Sunday and spent hours laying the laminate with Josh, and all I had to do in return was buy him cookies and grapes and then later we took him out for Hawaiian food. Pretty good deal, huh–who does that? 23-year-olds, that’s who. Remind me that hanging out with younger people can be good, sometimes! Nobody our age would volunteer for that job!
The job is basically complete, we just need to either paint the walls or find new molding, because with the carpet now gone the molding is a little too short on the wall. No more cat piss-smelling carpet, wheeeee!
Anniversary flowers.
And of course, cards.
Gotta make up for mutually forgetting our anniversary last year, you understand.
Not my best card effort. Luckily Josh is not sentimental about cards…
…but I am! I will keep any card you send me.
Over the years, this has added up to a lot of cards.
That’s why I’ve grown comfortable with the term, “sentimental hoarder”. Ahem.
I’m about to get off the computer and go work on this Mandala.
It is taking a looooong time, but I’m okay with that. I’m going to be happy with the end result.
Meanwhile, the sunsets outside the beauty room window are still fantastic.
My iphone is still wet! Today I was able to text message Josh and Corinne once and post one picture to Instagram before it started acting crazy, and then I put it back in the rice. I had to back away. I’m torn between leaving it in rice for another week with periodic checks or just cracking and going down to the Apple store and giving them all my moneys for another phone. As you might imagine, I’m leaning towards the first option. Toodle-loo!
