Sailing adventure
Hidey-ho, blog! We spent the weekend in Spokane. On Saturday we took the rogs for an exciting boat ride on Lake Pend Oreille (pronounced “Ponderay”) with Fleeta and Bob, on their sailboat.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous.
My pets down below. I was morbidly curious to see how they would react to being on a boat for the first time, and you know what? They did just fine.
Fleeta and Bob and Josh did all the work that comes with sailing a boat, although ONCE I pulled on a rope.
We docked across the lake and ate the lunch that we packed. We walked over to a little inlet where people were swimming and used the public restrooms. Maggie and Bear Cub went for a swim. Fleeta, Josh and I went for a swim once we were back at their dock.
I always think of “What About Bob?”: “I’m sailing!”
Sailing outfit, complete with Sea Bands, of course. Come to think of it, I think I took them off when we docked at the halfway point and didn’t put them back on. At one point I also walked to the front of the boat, laid down on deck, and took a nice little nappy poo. The motion of the sailboat is veryyyyy relaxing.
Who wouldn’t want a lake house? Sign me up.
A lovely day for a sailing trip!
On the way back to Bob and Fleeta’s house all hell broke loose. It started thundering, and lightning, and raining…and pretty soon the wind was crashing down trees all over the roads. We would go down a road a ways, then a tree would be blocking it and we’d go down another road, and the same thing would happen, again and again. We finally got lucky and went down a road where someone had started chopping through the trees, and got through. Then we passed a forest fire, right off of the highway! I had never seen a forest fire close up before–I actually saw trees burning. It was scary.
When we got back to the house, the power was out, as well as all over the region. We went out to dinner and it was nothing but black-out for miles. We made it to a Thai restaurant and had a great dinner, and in the morning the power returned. We had a nice brunch with Josh’s grandmother before driving back to Seattle. We stopped by Finders Keepers and they had the NERVE to be closed on a Sunday, how dare you Finders Keepers! I was really looking forward to a new ring. Heigh ho!
from one internet stranger to another, you and your husband have both gotten hotter. you should know I noticed.
AW THANKS internet stranger! And we were just whining last night, Josh about how he never works out anymore and me about my inability to stop shoving carbs/sugar into my maw. Yay!
