Marilyn, the new “Gatsby”, and paintings
Ohhhhhh Marilyn. Something about crisp fall air makes me wanna get all beautified, and what better beauty inspiration than Marilyn Monroe? Somehow over my decades of Marilyn movie watching I had avoided “There’s No Business Like Show Business” and I still understand why…but the scenes with Marilyn make it all worthwhile. Look at her exuding sex while singing “Lazy” by Irving Berlin. SO GOOD.
Siiiigh timeless. I can’t believe I’ve never painted Marilyn. Maybe because everyone else has? Still. Someday.
Speaking of painting, here’s the platform shoe painting, take II: the electric blue boogaloo.
We finally watched the new “Great Gatsby” movie, and now I really really wish we had seen it in the theater, like we’d talked about. I loved it! “Strictly Ballroom” is one of my favorite movies, but I feel like I’ve been disappointed with every Baz Luhrmann movie since (actually I haven’t seen “Australia” but still…). This movie redeemed him for me. Leonardo was even good! However…
…after it was over I had to quickly put on the 1974 version and remind myself of how slobberingly hot Robert Redford was in the bathing suit scene at the end. Mmmm hmmmmmm. And I don’t even like blondes.
Joshy painting up a storm. We like painting in this family.
Did I mention that my father is in Haiti for three months, building an orphanage? I didn’t think I did. My mother is excited because she knows he’ll lose weight, since he has to boil all of his food! Did I mention I’m on round 4 of Clomid? I am. Did I also mention that I have full time work lined up all this month? I DO. But I’ll always have time for you-u, blog.
So much stuff I’ve missed. Yah on the job because money is well essential 🙂 I love me some rainbow platforms! Have fun at the ballet and looking beautiful and playing dress up, it’s what we live for!
Xxxoooo
Thanks Krista! 🙂
