Painting make-overs, Populuxe re-visited and delicious sandwiches

Monday Monday, can’t trust that day,
Monday Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way

Now why is that song in my head, I wonder? Oh yeah, it’s Monday. I’m drinking coffee at 7 o’clock at night to 1. hopefully remove the stubborn headache I’ve had all day and 2. inspire me to do the 4 days a week weight training routine Josh’s cousin made for me. If I’m successful than in approximately 20 minutes I’ll be huffing and puffing in the living room with exercise bands and weights. If this coffee doesn’t take then I’ll be getting horizontal with some dark chocolate and a book. Mmmmm, dark chooooocolate.

This painting has undergone a drastic make-over since I took these photos. I kept adding more colors and more colors and then I realized…it was just TOO MUCH.

Too much“? Really? Do I even believe in such a thing? Apparently so. I gave up going for Peter Max and now I’m just going for Pretty Pretty. It looks a lot better.

haircut day
Another shot from haircut day, last Thursday. I was inspired by my mother’s recent beauty buys (which included a Nars lipstick–I’m so proud of her!) and bought some sort of hairspray that is supposed to protect my hair from heat styling. I tried it this morning and I’m pretty sure my hair looked 9.5% better, so…success?

Joshy at Populuxe
Joshy outside Populuxe last Thursday during another one of our pilgrimages to check out my paintings/absorb the “ambience”.

Liz with a lemon Pellegrino
It was cooooold. I wore two shirts and a jean jacket, and I was still freezing. That lemon Pellegrino wasn’t exactly treating me right, either–but the Peruvian food cart that we bought sandwiches from did! I had a brisket sandwich–after swearing off brisket years ago–and it was AMAZING. Just goes to show you–never say never.

Maggie at Populuxe
I wanted to bring Maggie and Bear Cub with us, since Populuxe is both kid and pet-friendly. I fed the rogs bits of brisket off my sandwich and they loved it.

After snarfing down our sandwiches, we retreated back inside. Populuxe is now in the process of building a covered patio out back, with space heaters…that will be nice for the next several months of crappo weather.

As you can see, it wasn’t a popular day inside Populuxe. But don’t my paintings look nice? This is their last week up (sob!).

I received the e-mail today from Amy, one of the owners, asking if I would pick the paintings up this weekend. We had a nice run, Populuxe! And I’d do it again, any time. Lord knows I have enough paintings gathering dust at home to have a completely different show! Soooo many paintings.

Speaking of paintings, Joshy has finally picked up the paintbrush again, and I’m so happy. He went out this weekend and bought several canvases for us. He’s simultaneously working on a small painting of Maggie swimming, and a larger landscape from one of his hiking photos. I love it when he paints–it inspires me. As soon as I’m finished with the platform shoe painting I’ll be starting my “Hag” series, and it’s gonna be GREAT! Bette Davis 4 Life!

Oooh, that caffeine is hitting me. Time to create some muscles. Unfffff.
