A week in Oregon, part 2: Lincoln City arrival
Massive photo dump tiiiime! My favorite. Josh has been Instagramming/Facebooking our trip for the past week. I also IG’d plenty of pictures, but no trip would be complete without hundreds of “real” photos, a’la Canon camera style. No mystical, colorful filters though–just reality. Meee-yan.
This was our first morning on the beach in Lincoln City, right across the street from our pet-friendly hotel. This was also the beginning of our realization that the Oregon coast is COLD!
Not very popular either, this time of day. Corinne, bless her heart, texted me at 6 in the morning and I had the phone next to the bed and BING! It woke me up, and I couldn’t get back to sleep. So the first day of our vacation we were both up before 7 am. Gross.
We had a couple of wet, sand-covered dogs throughout the week. We bathed them in the hotel shower, but Bear Cub put up such a struggle that after that we hosed them off outside.
The inevitable feet/shoes pic. Love the feeling of sand between my toes.
Jogging along the beach to warm up. The temperature of the water was around 53 degrees…BRRRRR. This was not a sunbathing, swimming and/or surfing trip. Josh gazed longingly at surf shops as we drove by, but it just wasn’t happening on this vacation. Even for a dude who likes the cold!
I wore those leggings under every single sundress I brought on the trip, every day. I also packed one pair of pants, but who wants to wear pants on a summer vacation? Not me, Hank McGee.
“We’re on vacation…la tee dah…”
We went back to the hotel, split a Xanax and put on bad hotel cable and tried to nap, to no avail. Then we figured the best thing to do would be to take the dogs for a walk. We drove around Lincoln City a bit and stopped to take some photos of the beach from above.
A picture of Josh taking a picture of me.
If you’re willing to overlook the cold, wind, and bouts of thick fog, the Oregon coast is really beautiful!
The rainbow sweatshirt got a lot of use on this vacation.
We ended up parking at a hospital and following some vague directions online to find a mysterious little hiking trail, but it didn’t pan out. Following the advice of several random hospital employees smoking outside we wound up at “The Friends of Wildwood Trail”.
It was a nice little jaunt, the perfect hike for two people who didn’t get quite enough sleep.
Happy hiking face! The braids were a necessity all week long, with the wind.
Back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. Excuse the gratuitous strapless bra shot, but my skin looked great and I had to document it. Of course I got a spray tan for the trip, but a couple of days getting blasted by sand and wind took care of it!
Layered up to walk across the street to Kyllo’s, a seafood restaurant my cousin recommended to us. It was fantastic–I had herb-crusted halibut topped with fresh crab and cheese, over a pile of garlic mashed potatoes. Josh had crab cakes and some pricey drinkie-poos. We enjoyed this restaurant so much we went back on our last night in Lincoln City. Highly recommended!
Stay tuned for mooooooore, so much moooooooore. Today I have to get paintings ready for the coffeehouse! Yay, art!
