July camping, Part 2: The Electric Boogaloo
Good morning, starshine! The stupid alarm woke me up at 7 this morning, right in the middle of yet another Burning Man dream. In this dream, almost everyone at Burning Man was a “bro” with baseball caps and white tee-shirts and I was complaining to someone, “No one even dresses up any more!” I dream about Burning Man all the time.
I don’t mind being up early. I was looking forward to the time I’d have this weekend to finally sit and edit photos and blog, honestly. When I work I use up so much physical and mental energy that I’m completely drained afterwards. Part of it is the rigid productivity standards–I have to be 90% productive at work. Forget about breaks. Gone are the days back when I started years ago that I could leisurely take a cig break whenever I wanted. Ha! Who has time to smoke now? (nurses)
This is probably about the time that he realized his iphone was in his pocket. Poor little guy. Well, he has another one now, so all is good. I actually missed texting him my inane thoughts for three whole days.
I titled this photo “Gratuitous Torso Shot”, and let’s face it, that’s all it is. Say what you will about the grossness of a spray tan but without ’em, I photograph so white you can barely see me. Translucent. Ghosty.
As much as I would love to camp every weekend, this weekend we are going to stay at home and do a little cleaning, since we are both working next week and next weekend we leave for our Oregon Coast trip. Hooray! Hurrah!
This is one tired rog on the beach.
Bear Schnub needs a shave this weekend. Her fur is out of control–and so is the amount of fur in the house. Speaking of fur, I thought I saw a weirdly large clump of fur in the bathroom and it turned out to be a dead frog, specifically, this little guy, who hopped in the house one night, made a beeline for under the refrigerator and then never managed to leave. Booooo.
“I’ve got my happy face on today, Les!”
Bear Cub loves being in the tent. When the sun finally went completely away on the beach, we returned to the tent to enjoy freeze-dried spaghetti and meatballs. I had some melted Reese’s Pieces for dessert.
It took a long time for the sun to go down. We amused ourselves by reading books and listening to the campers who took the Good Spot playing “20 questions”. More about them, later.
After dinner we went for another little hike.
Stay tuned for moooooore! A whole lot more.
That’s it how about you let Bear come stay with my hubby and take me on vacation instead! Please! You are looking as fresh and hot as this spot does!
Xxoo
Why are we both up before 7 am on a Sunday, Krista? Oy! SORRY you can’t have Bear Schnubs. I am too enamored with her. Tanks for the compliments!
I love the reference to Strictly Ballroom!
That movie is embedded into my brain! I never get tired of it.
