Good-bye Bill
Josh’s two grandfathers, Lew on the left and Bill on the right. November 2012.
Josh’s grandfather Bill passed away last night. He’d been developing worsening Alzheimer’s for quite some time, and more recently had a few blood clots in his legs that worked up into his lungs. We were planning on visiting the weekend after next to see him, but we didn’t make it in time. At least the last time we saw him–his 90th birthday party last November–he was bright and cheerful. I hugged the birthday “boy” and kissed his cheek. This is Josh’s first grandparent that has died. He’s doing alright–when a grandparent is old and in failing health it eases the pain, a little. Still, I feel sad for him and his parents and also Bill’s widow, Frances. I’m making Josh a steak tonight for dinner. Well, technically he’s making himself a steak–but I’m buying it!
Today: Zumba in an hour and a half, later, a nice long walk with the dogs. I’ve been driving us to different dog parks that are larger to extend our walks–the little park near our house is nice, but so small that we really only spend about 20 minutes there. The rogs and I need more of a workout then that!
Oh yeah, one more thing…
…if you’re looking for me, I’ll be here on my neon green hammock with built-in drink holders for the next 3 months. YAY!!!
