The Warhol exhibit, and carbs

taking pictures with a foggy lens
This is no “filter” effect. This is what happens when you leave your camera in a cold car and then quickly try to take some photos of your outfit with a fogged-up lens. It doesn’t work! Dressed up for the Warhol exhibit at the Tacoma Art Museum Saturday. I made that silver skirt recently, and was looking for an excuse to wear it out.

I could have gone heavier with the eye make-up, but that’s okay. New black liquid eyeliner by Make-Up Forever–a super skinny brush with a heavy pigmented line. A gay at Sephora showed me a brown eyeliner, and I sniffed my classic line: “I don’t do earth tones,” at him. “I love you,” he replied. Note: the GLITTER liquid eyeliners by Make-Up Forever are truly inspirational. Next time I go back I’m getting the black multi-colored glitter one. Oooooh. I also bought their lipstain/lipgloss duo–and it really does stay put for hours. Until you eat/drink anything, of course.

Liz outside the Warhol exhibit
Here I am outside the exhibit–as I suspected, no photography was allowed in the exhibit. That’s the way it works, generally. It was good! I had never seen Warhol’s flower paintings in real life, and in real life, they looked nice. The neon paint really pops. Get it? Pops?

Unfortunately, the combination of last day of eating carbs for 2 weeks (think: donuts) + unforgiving metallic pleather size 8 skirt = PAIN. We didn’t see the whole museum. I had to unzip, badly.

Joshy at the TAM
What we did see was pretty boring, but what would you expect at the Tacoma Art Museum? On the way home we stopped at Dairy Queen, and I ordered a butterscotch Dilly bar that I didn’t end up eating. It was gross. Don’t do it. Save your calories!

I started the “Induction” portion of Atkins again yesterday (it lasts two weeks) and oddly, the Boy decided to do it with me. Including going beer-free for the duration! SHOCKING. A couple of days ago he was telling me he wanted to go vegan again.

“Oh great!” I said. “I just ordered the book!” I told him we should do the Induction, and then maybe go vegan afterwards. I don’t know. I eat healthier on the low-carb diet, really. When I’m vegan I eat way too much sugar, so I’m not particularly enthused. Part of the reason for me going low-carb was to kick my insane sugar addiction. Addictions are so boring!

I work all this week, three days next week, AND the week after too, GOOD. Especially good because it turns out after taxes we OWE 4,000 dollars. Muh huh. Not stoked. Not stoked at all.

  1. Carbs are the DEVIL!!! Actually, one of my friends just lost a shitload of weight doing Atkins….I might be convinced! I def feel better when I eat less, that much I know. WhatEVER, I don’t do beer!
Did you look down your nose when you said you don’t do browns? Witheringly?! I work hard at that kind of thing.
I’ve never really gotten into Warhol, but I’d certainly go to an exhibition if there was one on, but we are far too provincial to have anything like that here!

    1. Atkins worked like a charm last fall and I immediately lost 14 pounds, but now I’ve stalled with only 6-7 to go. I’m sure I just need to exercise more, it’s just hard when I’m working!

  2. Your eyeliner looks perfect. 🙂
I have to confess I am an earth tones girl. However, I did just purchase my First black mascara a few months ago lol

    1. I confess, I did buy a brown-black mascara from “Bare Minerals”. I don’t think it counts as earth tones, though. Good mascara! Teeny little brush!
