flapper painting
Flapper painting: finished! And for sale HERE! Inspired by a photo of Jennifer Connelly, a necklace worn by Princess Diana and my ongoing obsession with all things 1920s. Acrylic paint/metallic ink/craft glitter on a 12 x 16″ flat canvas panel.

I like this one a lot. I’d love to frame it, but as previously mentioned, we are Poor. Or maybe Broke would be more accurate. Here’s an article I read recently re: the difference between broke and poor. Broke: you had some money and right now you don’t; poor–you never had it in the first place. What about you, blogreader? Or you Poor or Broke? Let’s discuss being Broke on a low carb diet: MEAT IS SO DAMN EXPENSIVE. That is all.

Good news, though, I have work tomorrow! And Friday, so far. Possibly more as the week goes on. My interview for the second job went well, but it was only the first part–now I have to wait for the follow-up call to move onto part 2. One of my goals for 2013 is to work more hours–we want to buy a house someday, and it’s only going to happen with two incomes. Seattle is expensive (heavy sigh).

The Boy is skiing today with various family members. I just made an enormous 9 x 13 inch bacon/spinach/cheese/mushroom/onion quiche for us to heat up for breakfast throughout the week. That’s the way to do it, bay-bee! I’m making a curried turkey meatloaf for dinner. I was planning on making cranberry compote on the side, but at the grocery store was informed that cranberries are seasonal items and the season ended last month. Even frozen! DRAT. Happy Sunday! Ooh! There’s sun outside. ‘Scuse me while I kiss the sky.

        1. It was pretty straightforward. An entire package of bacon, 12 eggs, cheese a dash of milk, spinach, mushrooms, onion, plus spices–fry up the bacon/veggies, mix with the milk/cheese/spices and pour into a 9 x 13 inch pan, cook for 30 or so minutes. You can basically take any quiche recipe (crustless, mind you) and double the ingredients. I use the “allrecipes” website frequently.

          1. Great, thank you. 🙂 I’ve never made quiche before. I don’t like the kind with the crust anyways lol that’s why. What spices did you use? Just s&p? 12 eggs must’ve made one big ass quiche!! Thanks. 🙂

        2. I just looked for the recipe I used on “allrecipes”, and they removed it! Weird. I just used salt/pepper/garlic/basil, I think. I’m not an “eyeballer” kind of a cook, generally, but quiche is pretty hard to screw up! It’s incredibly versatile, and tasty! Good luck!

          1. Great, thank you so much. I’ll make it this weekend and let you know how it turned out. 🙂
