“Vamps”, the Manse, and an ornament project
I was really excited to see “Vamps”, starring the eternally-youthful-looking Alicia Silverstone and directed by the chick who did “Clueless” AND featuring my boyfriend Malcolm McDowell but…it was just…so so. It could have been 10,000 times better. Watch it: you’ll see. Then report back to me and let’s discuss!
Last week we went over to the Manse to babysit the kiddies. Once work picked up for me this year I had to quit babysitting Ronia every week, and boy, has she grown!
And the communication! Full sentences! She just turned three and already we are chilling in her bedroom, playing with her huge pile of Barbies and their vast array of accessories. I didn’t even like Barbies when I was little but somehow, with Ronia, it’s fun.
By the way, I want you to know, all 3.4 blogreaders who are still with me, after all these years, that I APPRECIATE YOU. You know what they say: keep coming back, it works if you work it!
The master bedroom is so friggin’ big there’s a couch where I stood to take the photo. Uh huh, that’s right. Inspiration: a celebration! However: they need more art on the walls, beeg time.
This is the feature I want most of all: PARTY SHOWER!
Ronia’s room. She’s such a doll. She wouldn’t fall asleep unless I laid next to her, and even though she’s been sick for the past __ weeks I snuggled right up and stayed until I heard her snoring. The “big girl” bed makes this easier. When she slept in the crib I had to coil my body on the floor like a dog. Oh, the things we do for love!
Speaking of love, for the first time in seven years Elliot requested a cuddle from me. I read out loud to him his requests: an alphabet book, his baby book, a book on microbes (seven-year-old geniuses are very into microbes) and “Where the Wild Things Are” (my choice).
We finally bonded. It meant a lot! And made up for a lot, too.
Uncle Josh is attacked by ginger kids! Speaking of “gingers”, when did that become the widely used term for redheads?
My outfit coordinated with the carpet. And Elliot–he was wearing a pink shirt and turquoise pants. I don’t know if he dressed himself, but I certainly admired his daring use of color.
The Boy is so good with kids. And these kids, when they’re good, aw, they’re a delight. Just don’t get me started on when they’re bad…I don’t feel like heartburn right at this moment.
The Boy got him to pose for me seconds before dominos went flying all over the house. Success!
It really was the best babysitting experience we’ve ever had tag team babysitting both of the kids. This Thursday we’ll get to do it all over again…thank God for melatonin! For the kids, I mean. Not us.
On the way home we gobbled down cheeseburgers from Dick’s (remove the bun and it’s Fatkins friendly!) and I drove us slowly through some of the rich neighborhoods to gawk at Christmas lights. We purchased our lights on Sunday, but who knows when the Boy will have time to put them up. He’s in charge of decorating the outside of the house!
Here’s the “before” picture of the porcelain San Francisco ornament I bought on Etsy that the Boy requested I glitter up. I drew a rainbow on the back but it looks like a four-year-old did it, so it will need a little werk before it’s presentable. Meanwhile the bridge is currently covered with red glitter–thanks, Mod Podge! I love ya. Never change.
Join me tomorrow for an entry about the drag queen show! It was sooooo goooood.
