Ski pole decorations, false eyelashes and a gay show
Here’s the Boy wrapping his boring white ski poles with neon hoop tape. His idea! My influence is rubbing off alllll over him.
This photo is overexposed, so you can’t really make out the design, but he used neon green and pink hoop tape. A better photo of the ski poles that he took is on his Instagram, @djmagicelf. He’s been DJ Magic Elf ever since he spontaneously gave himself a DJ name in this video.
Yesterday he told me the porcelain San Francisco ornament I bought us from Etsy needed glitter, and then last night on the way home from the Manse he advised me to wear false eyelashes tonight for the drag queen show.
“You haven’t been wearing them as much,” he pointed out, munching on the Dick’s cheeseburger we stopped to get (at 11 o’clock at night! Go, Fatkins!)
“Well, eyelash extensions spoiled me,” I shrugged.
“Yeah but false eyelashes show up better in pictures,” he wisely reminded me. Hoop taping ski poles? Making Christmas ornaments gayer? Encouraging me to wear false eyelashes…to make photos look better? I think I like this kid.
Last night’s babysitting was the best ever, thanks to Elliot being sweet sweet sweet to Auntie Liz and, for the first time ever, requesting a “snuggle”. !?! With me! It filled my heart with joy.
“The New Normal” is a great show, and seems specifically designed for people like me, with flamboyant gays who want babies, Bernese Mountain puppies (my third dog is going to be a Bernese Mountain dog, thank you very much!), and best of all, this cute little girl who actually dressed up like Little Edie in the second episode and went around drawling “Mother dahling” in a fairly spot-on Little Edie accent to everyone. Perfect.
The dogs are going to miss us this weekend! And I might just miss them back. Certainly Sunday back at home will be weird without them, but we’re going to buy a Christmas tree and start decorating, so that will keep us occupied.
Have a good weekend, blog-logs! I will be enjoying drag queens, a lovely hotel room and a nice fatty dinner somewheres–just about a perfect birthday weekend! I can’t wait.
