Liz and Corinne visit “Display & Costume”
Can you believe that Corinne never accompanied me to “Display & Costume”, my favorite party supply store in Seattle, until last Saturday? I can’t either. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Corinne, we need to hang out more.
But darling, hold still while I’m taking the photo.
My beloved Canon Powershot SX20 IS is screwed up. A chunk of plastic broke off the bottom over the summer and now the LCD screen doesn’t work properly–it’s not coming on and when it does it’s upside down. This has completely interfered with my normal photo taking, sure, but especially (gasp!) self-portraits. This will not stand!
I contacted the seller we bought it from and sure enough, it only has a one year warranty. OF COURSE IT DOES. I’ve had it for almost 2 years. I started looking up camera repair shops around Seattle–sigh, so expensive. And when is a good time to bring your camera in, not knowing how long it will take to fix? Try never. I’m very attached to my camera.
It will have to wait until after Christmas. I just had to bring my car in to the mechanic this morning with a list of problems.
I mean literally, a written list–because I don’t always remember all of the problems while I’m at the mechanic, so some things have gone unchecked for a loooong time. Like the fact that the rear windshield wiper sprays the wrong way, which is kind of hysterical. Keeps people from following me too closely!
Corinne and I had a blast at “Display & Costume”. A.D.D. brain overload, though! After 3 stores we were exhausted. I only enjoy shopping in very brief bursts; she’s the same way.
We both fell in lust with this avocado-green chandelier. “That’s my color!” she said. “That’s my color!” I replied. Great minds think alike!
I was disappointed they took down the Day of the Dead corner, but they had to make room for all of the Christmas displays, which Corinne (amazingly) oohed and awed at with me. She told me that working retail makes her incredibly grumpy around Christmastime, but she didn’t mind it too much at this store.
Although…um. Ah ha ha! But no…
…especially those shoes, agh! Nightmare! I just can’t deal with a pointy-toed shoe.
Having a moment. I love this picture. It’s so…me.
Corinne having trouble deciding which zombie calendar is the best choice.
We kept our purchases to a bare minimum of 1 wig head and 2 nail polish colors each (the same colors–metallic teal and purple). I suggested she use a wig head to aide in all the hats she’s crocheting up and as for me, well…I can always use another wig head, or three. They’re so much fun to decorate!
Their fabric is reasonably priced, too, and don’t even get me started on the sequin trim selection, oof!
Speaking of fabric, join me later for part 2–Liz and Corinne go wild over fabrics and yarn! Let’s draaaag this thing out. It’s funner that way.
This store looks like a place I could spend hours and a bunch of cash! I need me some wig heads for my ever growing hat collection!
do it! they’re super cheap. these styrafoam ones were less than 5 bucks, and you can paint them and add glitter/rhinestones…so much fun!
