It’s natural!*
And we’re back again, with more nature photos!
These are from the weekend following our really really steep mountain hike. I told the Boy sure, I’d love to go hiking again–just not straight up a mountain.
This was a nice compromise–a 4 mile hike, but fairly flat. So flat, in fact, we saw some elderly people during our travels.
No word from the Boy yet. I assume he doesn’t have phone reception, wherever he is. I assume he’s safe.
There had been a lot of forest fires, so the sky was quite hazy and pink that day.
When we went to REI I bought myself some 40 dollar sunglasses, which is really a splurge, for me. The Boy got me all nice and paranoid when he said that the cheap sunglasses I wear all the time are actually worse for my eyes than wearing no sunglasses at all, so I thought fine, I’ll get some good ones.
Unfortunately I realized yesterday as I was driving to the gym that the “polarization” of the lenses makes my windshield look all weird and checkerboard-patterned, which simply won’t do.
I promptly returned them to REI, where it was discovered that the girl had never charged me for them! Ironically, she had been telling me a story about how she had caught a shoplifter the evening before and must have been so distracted she forgot to ring them up. So if I hadn’t returned them, I suppose they would have been a “steal”, mwa ha har.
Yesterday I went to the fabric store to browse Halloween fabrics for a skirt/dress/pettipants and found nothing. Shocking!
I also went to the library for a pile of books, including “The Green Mile”, which I never saw as a film nor read as a book. It’s pretty good so far.
I put some layers of paint on a canvas, ate dinner (vegan chili and cornbread), and rounded out my evening by watching two movies the Boy absolutely wouldn’t be interested in: “The Sentinel”, cheesy 1977 horror film with Chris Sarandon, Ava Gardner, Burgess Meredith, Sylvia Miles and Beverly D’Angelo as a pair of leotard-clad lesbian lovers, and Eli Wallach and Christopher Walken as cops. It didn’t suck, as Nomi from “Showgirls” would say, but it wasn’t that great.
I also watched a Miss Marple mystery, mostly because Liz Taylor and the ever-creepy Kim Novak star as two aging over-the-top movie stars who hate each other. Yeah! Rockin’ solo Saturday night!
Today I’m going to add more paint to the canvas and take the dogs for a nice long walk somewhere. We tried a new dog park yesterday but the closer we got, the more signs I saw posted that you needed a 10 dollar day pass. 10 dollars to walk my dogs in nature? SCREW THAT. It was a waste of 45 minutes driving around.
My mother suggested that I try the Fatkins diet, which I haven’t attempted for years and years and years. I thought about it overnight and then decided today sure, why not. No carbs? No bread? No sugar? NO FRUIT? Now, doesn’t that sound like fun?
Adventure Liz strays off the path!
This is my favorite photo of the bunch. It was a really beautiful walk–and no pain the next day, a bonus. Fun for the whole family!
Happy Sunday! I’m off to the store to buy a shitload of meat and vegetables. WISH ME LUCK.
