San Fran Love, Part 11: the SFMOMA
But Eddie, is it Art? The Boy and I went to the SFMOMA our last full day in San Francisco, mostly to check out Cindy Sherman’s exhibit but also everything else.
This “art” was a big room with a tiled floor and a bunch of humming, rotating fans overhead. Yomp.
I met Andy Warhol at a really chic party
Oh blow it out your hairdo ’cause you work at Hardees
Matisse! One of the Boy’s favorite artists. This is a study for one of his most famous paintings, “The Joy of Life”.
Raymond Jonson. I thought it was cool, especially the off-kilter framing.
The Boy really liked this piece, by an artist simply known as “Jess”. It took him more than 30 years to complete!
A large piece by Margaret Kilgallen, one of the “Beautiful Losers”. You’ve seen that film, right? At least twice? Gooooood. Important!
It’s Love, baby. The guy standing next to it kind of coordinates.
James Rosenquist. Don’t ask me why, I just like it. Maybe because of the glitter? Probably because of the glitter.
Georgia O’Keeffe has never been one of my favorites, but did you know she was 98 when she died? That’s a long life!
Frida Kahlo’s self-portrait with her husband. She painted her feet really tiny.
Of course no photography was allowed in the Cindy Sherman exhibit, but here’s the hallway. It was a pretty amazing exhibit–I’ve liked her work for a long time. It’s kind of…grotesque. Especially the clown series.
Checking out Barry McGee’s wall. He’s another “Beautiful Loser”, one of my favorites.
And finally, one last Matisse. This is a painting of his wife, and it’s called, “Woman with Hat”. Gotta love those creative painting names.
Okay bloggy loggies, one more SF entry! Then it’s back to dogs and shoes and plants and flowers and self-portraits. The usual. I have quite a bit on my camera, just waiting to be uploaded, hurray!
