a muddy adventure
Hello little bloggers, Dame Lizzy’s my name. Guess what we did this weekend? Huh? Heh?
If you guessed camping, you’re correct! We went back to the same spot, but in the interest of my car, parked up the little backroad instead of plowing through it this time. An extra 10 minutes of backpacking, but a cinch on flat road.
Ta daaaa! Notice anything different?
The level of the water was drastically different from two weeks ago. All the mud you see in the photo above was covered with lake.
This meant a lot more “sandy beaches”, but what it really translated into was sticky mud! At one point I got my Chaco-clad foot stuck in the mud and I pulled so hard I messed up my big toe, which hurt for the rest of the trip, and still hurts. Only when I walk, though.
Muddy, shallow or not, my bikini and I were ready to party in the water before we even put the tent up.
It certainly was a much longer walk to get water this time around. We’ve been talking about going camping one more time, when we return from San Francisco, and we could just set the tent up on the sand.
Currently “our spot” is where all those trees are, on the top of that hill. Some climbing required.
The dogs were certainly happy to get in the water. It was maybe 10 degrees cooler than two weeks ago, but still warm enough to swim.
After getting muddy we walked in the opposite direction to check out the river.
I wonder if Maggie’s paws hurt today? She basically hasn’t moved from the floor since I woke up.
The river water was coooooold.
The Boy attempted more fly fishing a few times, but came up short. Heigh ho!
Here’s a 40-second panoramic view, standing on the river bank.
And here’s my classic pose! Happy Monday! More photos to come.
