Grampy concert, socks, and cleaning
Saturday afternoon we drove over to Bellevue to watch the Boy’s grandfather play clarinet in the Bellevue Community Band.
There he is, the second white head on the left. This is the same grandfather who still goes skiing with the Boy.
The concert took place at a high school. The black and white self-portraits hanging on the wall caught my eye, of course.
Along with the white hairs, several members of the Boy’s family turned out for the concert, including Jax and his paper crown.
The band played bits of several pieces of music, with a 15 minute intermission that included cake, cookies, and soda.
During one of the songs this little old man hobbled up to the front of the stage and hauled out signs to direct the audience participation. At one point he accidentally poked one of the musicians with a sign…twice.
I thought he was adorable. You know I love little old men!
It was a lovely afternoon. And I got presents!
The Boy’s sister gifted me with these “Hawaiian” socks, and…
…crazy Wonder Woman socks with little capes! “So you’ll go faster when you run,” she explained. Yes! I love crazy socks. One can never have enough, really.
In between beer breaks (him), and PMS-related snack + couch breaks (moi), we did accomplish a little spring cleaning this weekend. At this rate our “spring” cleaning is going to extend into summer…but who cares? As long as some things get cleaned and some things get donated, I’m happy. Although I still fantasize about paying someone to clean our house, thoroughly, just once…next time we get a Groupon deal for a housekeeping visit I’m gonna consider it.
If I work more hours I can alleviate the guilt, maybe, because doesn’t it seem weird to pay someone to clean your house? One of the jobs I was fired from a billion years ago was a housekeeping job, which says a lot. I don’t enjoy it, and the Boy simply doesn’t do anything, unless directly told. I have a white board that I write all of our “to do” items on…it helps.
First tulip arrives! This weekend I planted squash and tomatoes outside. The weather was fabulous, but according to weather.com (which I now pay attention to…occasionally) it’s gloom and doom all week long.
But hey, perfect for pettipants sewing, and guess what? I sold my first pair last night! Hooray! Hurrah! And thank gaaaaawd, because I was starting to have low self-esteem. Again.
