We recently watched “Adventures in Babysitting”, which I adored as a child, especially this opening song/dance sequence with Elisabeth Shue that is burned into my memory. I had a whole dance sequence worked out.

Well, he walked up to me and he asked me if I wanted to dance.
He looked kinda nice and so I said I might take a chance.
When he danced he held me tight
And when he walked me home that night
All the stars were shining bright
And then he kissed me.

I was pleased to note that it’s still hilarious, after all these years! Elisabeth’s rainbow scarf and perfect 80s curls! The Thor obsessed kid using her big brother’s zit cream as paint for her latest Thor portrait! The creepy bad guy! Vincent D’Onofrio as Thor??? That one surprised us.

We’ve gotten into the habit of IMDb-ing info on the girlfriend while we watch movies…distracting! Yet very satisfying. For example, did you know Vincent D’Onofrio packed on a walloping 70 pounds to play Gomer Pyle in the Kubrick classic “Full Metal Jacket”? Bleached his hair to play Thor? (I was sure it was a wig) Fascinating.
