Maui Part 12: The Road to Hana (begins)

The Road to Hana is an all-day event, and when you have the camera clicking away all day long, that adds up to a lot of photos. I figure I can get 4 blog entries out of the Road to Hana day easy, so here is the first installation!

The day started out with your truly making a BIG HUGE FUSS to go to “Paradise Found”, a crepes restaurant I had spied the previous evening. Seems to me I even got ready 34% faster that morning so we would have plenty of time to hit the restaurant before our day-long trip.

post-crepes satisfaction
Post-crepe glow. “Paradise found”, indeed.

j in the back seat, smiling
We shared one savory and one sweet, my favorite.

Satisfied self-portrait.

the serious surfers
The Boy requested a stop at one of the more “serious” surf areas so we could see how it’s really done.

multiple surfers
Considerably larger waves than the ones in front of our hotel!

josh's extreme close-up of my butt
Er. Sometimes the Boy likes to do a super-duper close-up with my camera’s zoom function just to “delight” me. Here’s my…ass.

fence poser
Posing awkwardly on a fence. It wasn’t very comfortable, but it had to be done, you understand.

fence poser with in-laws
My In-Laws declined to join me.

the fence poser comes down to earth
Ahhhh, better.

a pair of fence posers
The Boy will always climb.

the fence posers smiling down
Gazing down. Don’t we look friendly? Maui is Magic.

bridge
The Boy and I took about 4324388 photos from the moving car, but I’m only gonna post the…highlights? I mean, really.

curving road
Exciting to watch the scenery become lusher as we traveled the Road to Hana.

Garden of Eden next right? Sweeeet!

garden of eden arboretum
The 20 billion photos I took at the Arboretum will make up the next blog entry.

nice view from the moving car
Mmmmm…soooo nice.

paradise road
Oooh! Starting to see more tropical flowers!

greenery

African tulip trees
The tall trees with orange flowers are called African tulip trees, and they were everywhere.

viney
I was a little obsessed with the vines. I kind of wanted to swing on one (I do have monkey toes, after all).

variegated greens

tops of African tulip trees

lush
So gorgeous.

roadside pair
Your Pals roadside. Probably for stop #426723782 for me to relieve my tiny bladder–I am SUCH an old woman.

Gee, that seemed kinda brief. Well, next up: the arboretum!
