Maui Part 7: sunset and dinner at Bubba Gump’s

The last few pictures from Day 3, in the evening.

I wore the tie-dyed dress that I had purchased at the fabulous swap meet to dinner that evening.

That neon sports bra was the perfect accessory for the majority of my Maui wardrobe. Never mind that it pressed m’girls down flat, just look at that CUHLUH!

That evening the Boy’s parents took us to “Bubba Gump’s”, a theme restaurant for the film–yep, you guessed it, “Forrest Gump”. Heavy sigh. They meant well. How could they possibly know that that film gives me intense gas? I hinted at that, a little, but mostly I just shut up because 1. we were in Maui and 2. they were paying for dinner.

It was exactly the sort of restaurant I hate–crowded, loud, filled with obnoxious children and waiters screaming birthday songs every 5 minutes.

The Boy’s parents were happy, though.

run forrest run sign
They had a flip sign made of license plates on the table that was set to “RUN”, and if you wanted your waiter to pay attention to you (over the eardrum-splitting din) you flipped it to a red plate that said “STOP”. I tested it out–it worked; our waiter did stop.

Jen-nay’s waitress costume was directly over my head in a glass case.

Funny thing is, when the waitress asked us a bunch of trivia questions at the end of the meal involving the movie, who do you think knew all the answers? (I was so embarrassed). Except for one, which was a TRICK QUESTION. Oh, “Bubba Gump’s”. How dare you!

Back in the hotel bathroom, taking self-portraits in the mirror. ‘Cause that’s what I do.

I wish our bathroom here at home was that spacious and well-lit. I’d never leave.

For some annoying reason my body jerked awake at 5:30 this morning, and here I am. We’re supposed to go to Easter dinner at the Boy’s grandparents house this evening, but yesterday he came down with the cold I’ve been kicking around for the past week or so (and he’s 10 billion times more whiny about it), so I’m not sure if he’ll want to go out or not.

I want to go out because I went and got a fake tan yesterday and I have fresh nail stickers on and I re-constructed the glitter belt I got at the crusty thrift store so I could wear it with the green-and-white dress I bought at the non-crusty thrift store to dinner tonight and impress everyone.

Also I spent 15 dollars on Cadbury eggs and an Easter basket to share, I’M GOING OUT TONIGHT!

Happy Easter!

  1. aw, thanks. the Magical Powers of Maui created great hair on that trip, I haven’t been able to replicate it back home in Seattle. wahhhhhh.

  2. the food was fine, but the atmosphere was…well…yeah.

maybe back in my Drunk Days I would have liked it. maybe that’s the key. come to think of it, I did see a lot of parents sucking down massive tropical drinks…
