No, really…

…how ARE you doing? Well, if you are here and you are reading this and you like me, then you are probably as devastated as I am about the election results this week.

I realize now that I was living in my comfortable blue bubble, here in the very liberal Seattle area, flooded with PRO KAMALA imagery and words and signs all across my very pro-female, pro-LGBT, pro-liberal social media platforms.

To say I didn’t expect it is true, although throughout this entire year I had the sort of simmering dread that has accompanied every election since 2016, you know? I kind of miss the days when it didn’t seem SO FUCKING IMPORTANT. But everything is more important after you have children. Or it certainly should be.

I’m trying to not spend so much time on social media, but man it’s hard when I can’t seem to find a book to satisfy my urge. Non-fiction, suspense, horror, self-help…I’m all over the place. I told one of my patients this earlier this week and she said it was because I was in mourning. True.

Where do we go from here? Well…we don’t give up, that’s for sure. We keep supporting POC and LGBTQ+ and women and children and we don’t let this orange creature take over our emotions, our art. We keep fighting for the good guys.

New friends, new activities (like a 75 minute yoga class weekly that KICKS MY ASS), working on a children’s book!

I allowed myself to mourn and eat all of the “fun” sized Halloween candy I wanted to this week.

Tonight I have purchased myself an obnoxious oversized “t-shirt” style dress in pastel rainbow sequins, I will don my aqua wig and will try to sell my art at the “Pancakes and Booze” show in Seattle, a show I signed up for a few months ago. I’ve never done a nighttime show before, it will be fun!

Isn’t this lovely? This was from a little daytrip we took to Leavenworth in September. I became overstimulated by running after my children in the little town itself, but I adore the river. Mmmmmmm.

This guy is pretty great too. It’s nice to be married to one of the good ones. Well, see you next time!
