Mother’s Day Memories
Happy Spring, blog! “I like to watch things grow,” as Maude says.
Currently I’m on a little break from hunching over some painting projects downstairs. Turns out, hunching over my painting table flares up my sciatic pain, which has been raging for the past few weeks. BOO, PAIN.
I finally got my pelvic floor issue simmered down to tolerable levels and then BOOM sciatic nerve pain. I swear. Getting old IS the pits, my patients weren’t lying to me all these years.
I had intended to let my hair grow un-cut and hippie-length through my entire pregnancy, but at some point last month I broke down and went and had a little trim. It looks so much better.
I am currently 18 weeks and 1 day pregnant, Baby C is the size of a cucumber (a 5.5 inch long cucumber!), and he is VERY ACTIVE.
I’ve been trying to pin point exactly when I started feeling Goo kick (by reviewing old blog entries of course) and I know it was after 20 weeks at least, probably around 22 weeks, so this is early!
I especially feel him at night, or when I’m lying down, or right after a cup of coffee or eating a Big Stick. In other words…a lot!
Other than the sciatic nerve pain and sore boobs, I’m not having any other pregnancy symptoms. Morning sickness is long gone, and unfortunately so are my food aversions. My mother has been visiting for the past week, and there has been a LOT of eating around here!
Macaroni and cheese, pizza (no crust for me), grilled cheese, Mexican food, diner breakfast…the list goes on…
If my pregnant brain had any kind of attention span, I’d be reading this book!
Well, ONE of the two grapevines that Josh planted last year for Mother’s Day came back.
Less selfies these days. I am not feeling particularly attractive this pregnancy. What are ya gonna do?
Have a snack and fuggitaboutit.
I can’t believe that by the end of this month, I will be halfway through my pregnancy. My very last pregnancy. Awwwwww.
New projects!
Oh sweet Maggie dog. My mother volunteered to fly back to Seattle to assist in putting Maggie down later this year, if need be. Heavy sigh.
I don’t want to think about it. I feel like I’ve been inundated with news of pets passing away lately, or am I just noticing it more because Maggie is so damn old?
Bear Cub, thankfully, is doing great. Just as stubborn as ever! She resisted going on a walk with my mother this past week. That’s my snotty little Cub!
Sunglasses over glasses and a Big Stick eaten in the car before picking Goo up from daycare: this is my life.
I have some good news: my current job has been taken over by a different company but I applied for it and I got it! Yes! That means I get to keep my 5 minute commute, hopefully until October when I give birth!
It’s a HUGE RELIEF–for weeks before all of my paperwork went through I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to keep my job. Looking for work is very stressful.
I start my new (old) job at the start of June, which is also a relief because I will have an excuse to stop working an extra job that I picked up in Lynnwood. It’s a nice facility but I have to run around soooo much and it kills my sciatic nerve.
We still have 5 months to go, Baby C!
Both of my parents flew into town last week for Mother’s Day weekend. They arrived Saturday, early evening. It took them a couple hours to get from Sea-tac to our house via a Shuttle Express. Apparently it was traumatic–the driver was screaming at his children on his cell phone the entire time. I told them to stick to Uber.
Goo’s favorite thing in the world lately is to be outside, so we’ve been spending a ton of time on the back patio.
Diner breakfast with Grampy! My Dad is still working, so he flew back on Monday afternoon. My mother stayed the week with us.
Men at breakfast. Josh went skiing that day after breakfast…of course.
I used the Meitu app to cartoon-ify myself for Mother’s Day. Why not? Life is short.
Maple bars on Mother’s Day! And later, barbecued steaks.
Ahhh here it comes, the point in writing the blog entry when fatigue settles in. Time to take a break! And eat! Catch you in June, blogger-logs.
Hello, glowface!!! OMG. Happy more-than-halfway-now! Bzzzttt — so excited for you!!
Love seeing your pictures. Your parents always seem so freakin’ sweet.
