Knocked Up
Heyooooo! Could you tell by the title of this blog post that I am pregnant? It’s true! According to my app I am 4 weeks and 5 days pregnant, and Baby C is the size of a poppy seed. Yessss. The photo above is me emulating Kate Bosworth by buying the lipstick color she had on in that particular photo, which caught my fancy. “So Sophia” by Marc Jacobs. I’m not even really a lipstick person, but it’s a nice color.
I’ve had one at-home pregnancy test and two blood tests so far which all confirm the presence of Baby C, which is great, because I don’t really have any symptoms this time.
Last time, by the time my first beta test rolled around my boobs felt like they were going to fall off. This time? Nothin’. Seriously. It’s so bizarre to be pregnant and not have any symptoms.
However I will say this…when the baby woke everyone up at 3:30 this morning and I trudged down to the guest room to fall asleep I was awake from 3:30-5:00. Anxiety about not working. Hunger. TWO bathroom trips. Cold feet! THAT is some pregnancy bullshit, right there.
My mother was really great the entire time she visited us recently. She cooked, she did dishes, she cleaned the floors, she put up with my mood swings, which were partially from the progesterone I have to take twice a day but also from being in Baby Limbo.
No more Baby Limbo! Now it’s just Baby Town. For like 10 long months.
This is a pear “Dutch baby” that Josh made us one morning. We were not particularly impressed, but it’s fun to have a variety in your carbs.
I watched “Big Business” while my mother was in town, which I hadn’t seen since I was a little kid. I loved that movie as a child. Maybe I should watch “Mannequin” next. Do you think it holds up? Haw haw. Doubt it.
Here I was being SO cocky about the warm winter and BLAM we got hit with a crazy amount of snow. Goo has missed a total of 5 days of daycare now, all snow days.
My backyard has looked like this for like two weeks. It’s been gross. No dog walks! No Mommy walks!
Josh took the baby out in the snow a few times, but I had no interest in all. Plus the first week after my embryo transfer I’m supposed to keep my feet warm. Snow doesn’t help.
Bear Cub seems to mind the snow the least. She still hangs out on the back porch sometimes, seemingly oblivious. Josh has a picture of her sitting on the back porch with a light dusting of snow on her back.
I wasn’t going to let a little snow force me to stay home, so I kept going to the gym, which was pleasantly empty. Look at the pool! Not a soul in sight! I soaked my cold feet in the hot tub.
Grammy Kim specialty. She also made meat loaf, a pan of macaroni and cheese, and enchiladas. MMMmmmmm.
I love my son but it is nice having a break from him while he’s in daycare. I wouldn’t be able to type this with him hanging around. Or look for a new job, which is my next activity when I finish this.
Me thinks this wasn’t supposed to go in the dishwasher, do you agree?
Today is Valentine’s Day, and my husband bought me a card, two boxes of chocolate and some vintage jewelry. He is a very good husband. I got him and the baby a dog card, and I got Josh some chocolate peanut butter hearts.
Mumsie and I went to the library, and they had some local art hanging in the lobby. I recently discovered (thanks Mom) that I enjoy Sue Grafton’s “alphabet” series, and if I alternate a Grafton with an Agatha Christie I can blast through a new book about every two days. I love reading! I love it when I have the time and attention span to read, too!
This somewhat terrifying picture of Shel Silverstein is on the back of “The Giving Tree”. Yikes, dude!
Art at the vet. Poor old Maggie dog. She wears the vest with the handles every day now, because we need it to lug her up and down the stairs, her back legs just can’t do it. Dammit I hate it when dogs get old!
Self-portrait during Baby Limbo. This is the last time I’ll ever be pregnant. Sigh.
He’s going to be such a good big brother. You should see the loving way he snuggles and kisses his stuffed animals.
IT’S COOL, YOU CAN LEAVE NOW, SNOW.
YOU TOO, ICE.
My mother requested that we have breakfast at “Patty’s Egg Nest” while she was here, and I took the opportunity to order something I had been waiting until I was pregnant to order: the apple strudel French toast. MAN it was good.
The baby and I went to Hobby Lobby so I could buy him some more Play-Do. This glitter cardstock caught my roving magpie eye, of course.
Yesterday afternoon…was looking nice! Those blue skies were a welcome sight.
And finally, I updated my Bitmoji to make her pregnant. And now I want pancakes. Talk to you later, blog! Hopefully next time I blog I’ll be working again.
