“Grab a tool and start bangin’!”
Howdy blerg! This is me waiting to board the plane to go to Boise. It was a sweaty rushed morning. Long-ass drive to Sea-Tac (as always), two long-ass waits in security lines, just to make it to the gate right on time to be told to wait for plane maintenance. And then re-locate to another gate…
…where we finally boarded, just to be told on the plane that we had to wait AGAIN, for some sort of plane-to-runway signal to sync up. All in all the plane left over an hour later than scheduled, not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but having a toddler makes everything more complicated. Nevertheless, we made it to Boise! Our very first solo mama/son plane ride.
The weather was still lovely in Boise, like summer. We got to hang out with Pops and Lucy, go for walks to the park with Mom, eat a few grilled cheese sannies…
…get out some toddler energy. M and I slept in the same queen size bed at night. Which was…okay. He still managed to take up as much space as possible, but we did it.
There is now a little library on my parents’ street and I snagged this book. It’s cute! Amy Sedaris and Brigid Berlin are two of the “wacky chicks” Simon discusses, so of course it’s my kinda book.
My mother FINALLY quit her low-paying and extremely high-stress job, HOORAY! Friday was her last day. I am very proud of her.
Maybe she’ll visit more often now.
Here’s a drawing my grandfather did, hanging at my parents’ house.
My mother was thrilled to find this massive green pumpkin hiding in her pumpkin patch! She always grows a lot of pumpkins every year.
My mother gave me this new James Lee Burke to read. I had the strangest sensation the entire time that I had read it before…hmmm…
Back to life, back to reality…
If you haven’t seen the documentary “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”, you probably ought to right away. What a sweet human being. I cried and cried.
I put the baby down for his nap right before I came in here but I can hear him crashing around in his room, occasionally yelling “MAMA??” Dammit.
More progress! I fiddled with the background a little more after this photo was taken.
An old friend of ours (who can’t be on social media for legal reasons) came over a couple weeks ago and did some fluid art with me.
Ta da! Pretty nice for her first time!
Starting a Louise Brooks commission, oh yeeeaaaaaah! It’s finished now and drying in the garage.
All of the blue dragonflies at the park suddenly turned red for Fall. Beautiful.
Pretty sure I hear the sound of paper ripping. How much destruction can a 21 month old do in the time it takes to type this?
Riiiight? I love Alyssa Edwards.
We took Goo to the Woodland Park Zoo! He didn’t really “get” it, and was downright cranky during the last half an hour but WE TRIED.
I was attracted to the mosaic work on the back of this Komodo dragon statue.
I think this painting is gonna get a make-over next.
My neighbor’s dahlias are still going strong. He just giggled. Oh Lord, what is he doing in there?
Is it gonna be a terrible, horrible, no good very bad day? Maybe I’ll move to Australia.
‘sup, Fall.
It’s Bear Cub! Josh has been researching grooming techniques. Recently he learned that you should NOT shave dogs that have a thick undercoat. He was about to shave her down, too.
I’m semi-following my usual October plans to watch lots of horror films, although I’m not sure that Elvira counts (she is so funny though!). I just started watching the Netflix series “The Haunting of Hill House”, it’s pretty decent.
Not too old to wear this ringer tee, thank you very much!
And look, it’s your friends painting! Together! How romantic.
Alright blog, I had more pictures to share but I have to go look at my kid now…he’s being bad, I can tell.
