Grunge, art and cuteness
How’s it going, blog? Here’s the grunge family dressed up for Brenna’s 40th birthday/”Come As You Are” celebration last Saturday.
Luckily back in the actual 90’s everything was baggy, not like today’s skintight everything, so I was able to wear my little polyester shift dress that I bought in that little indie store in Boise that used to be next to the Record Exchange. Plus my new Docs, black leggings…
…a hemp necklace (made by Lisa), Bindi, mushroom earrings and lots of silver glitter and MAC shimmer! Josh wore my old Kurt jeans from high school (it was gratifying to see that they were also too small for him), a flannel, Bob Marley shirt and Docs. Baby M. wore his adorable star jammies, because his black Converse are too big for him.
We couldn’t stay long at the party because we had to drive Mumsie to the airport that same evening, but it was fun while we were there. M. started fussing during the car ride home and I gave him an “emergency” bottle of formula…he sucked the entire thing down! This kid is insatiable!
He’s down for a nap currently while I type this out. I managed to get in a phone call with Mumsie AND eat a grilled cheese sandwich during his nap…I wonder how far into this blog entry I’ll get?
Another drawing from 2011. I stumbled upon this series while searching for “Neon Amish” to send to blogfriend Liz and have enjoyed posting them on Instagram.
After my mother left us Saturday evening, Fleeta and Bob stayed over Sunday and Monday night. Great-grandparents Lew and Shirley came over for a visit on Sunday afternoon, which was nice.
Fleeta finished his doggy quilt! I LOVE IT.
A lot more smiles and coos lately. Such a sweet boy…when he doesn’t have gas.
Fleeta and I left to go to a nearby sewing shop to check out sewing machines on Monday…we were gone less than 30 minutes when Bob frantically texted us to come back. He had even given M. an “emergency” bottle of formula! Oh well. We tried. In the meantime, my Singer is still working thanks to electrical tape and a rubber band.
The weather flirted with snow during their stay, but luckily (for now) washed away with the rain.
I would prefer to not see any more snow, please, and thank you, until…December.
Fleeta recommended “Abstract: The Art of Design” on Netflix to us, and we watched the first two episodes with them. It’s really good!
The dogs are currently snoozing at my feet as I type this.
Very proud of myself this week for being able to get the kid into the carseat, put the carseat into the BOB stroller and get us all out the door for a walk not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES! HA!
I told my son he owed me Mardi Gras beads for flashing him all day long.
My neighbor/occasional babysitter commissioned from me a teeny-tiny painting to go in the teenage girl’s bedroom of the dollhouse she’s building. She gave me complete creative reign, which I love, and this is where my brain took me.
Trying to cut out the constant stream of cookies and ice cream in our diets and it’s haaaaaard. One day at a time!
Is he the cutest or what? I might be biased, but I still think he’s the cutest.
I mean COME ON.
Maggie dog says, “And what am I, chopped liver?”
Another drawing from 2011 of Anna May Wong. I like this one.
‘member this? I painted this self-portrait and then sold the painting! That was a good year.
This Day of the Dead yard art needs some CUH-LUH…I think every time I see it.
What? I wrote an entire blog entry without a baby crying??? Amazing. Ta ta for now.
so good. love that you put pictures in your posts.
I was about to ask if that tiny painting was for sale. ha.
M is straight up thrivin’! 3 walk outings deserves major kudos. xoxo.
Thanks Pom! I’m thinking about doing a mini painting series!
